Dell, Inc. is returning to the handheld with the Dell Mini 5. Dell intends for this to be a family of Android devices, aimed at media consumption. There are already content deals with Amazon in place for Kindle ebook content as well as Amazon MP3, video and Amazon store content.
Michael Dell also intends to put a SIM card into these devices so that they can also be used for voice calls, as well as data. The initial devices to hit the market next month have been slated to be in the AT&T network.
First out of the gate will be the Dell Mini 5, which has a 5 inch touchscreen, 1GHz snapdragon processor, 5MP camera, with a separate front-facing camera for video conferencing, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi and 3G wireless connectivity.
In addition to the Mini 5, there will also eventually be 7 and 10 inch models as well. We can expect the 10 in model sometime in 2011.
